Inspired by Mark Sanborn, well-known author and KASA conference 2007 keynote speaker, the Award is named in honor of Fred Shea, the subject of Sanborn’s national best-seller, The Fred Factor. The award seeks to honor an individual who exudes a Fred-like spirit of service, innovation and commitment to others, positively influencing and impacting the lives of those in the school community.
The KASA awards committee had a tough time choosing four finalists from a pool of 40 deserving applicants. With much discussion and deliberation, four finalists emerged.
2008 Fred Award Finalists:
Johnny Myers, Graves County bus driver
Fred Strange, Campbell County custodian
Brenda Sorrell, Montgomery County bus driver
Philip Mattingly, Nelson County warehouse supervisor and bus driver
The 2008 Fred award winner will be announced July 18 at the KASA 39th annual conference. Join Fred Shea, as we unveil KASA's very first Fred! The recipient will be honored through an inspirational video and receive a $500 scholarship to give back to the school program of his or her choice.
