Got Fred? If so, KASA's Awards Committee invites you to nominate this extraordinary individual for the association's new Fred Award.
Inspired by Mark Sanborn, well known author and KASA Conference 2007 keynote speaker, the award will recognize an individual who embodies a Fred-like spirit - a trademark spirit of service, innovation and commitment to others, positively influencing and impacting the lives of those in the school community.
The Fred Award is named in honor of Fred Shea, the subject of Sanborn's national best seller, The Fred Factor, and is modeled after the four principles described in the book - an individual, who chooses to make a positive difference each day, has a heart for people, changes ordinary moments into memorable ones, and leads by example.
"Not only will the Fred Award recognize a Fred in one of our school communities, it will also re-emphasize the conference theme of 212° The Extra Degree (leadership) for Exponential Results," said Tommy Floyd, committee chairperson and Madison Co. assistant superintendent. "It takes just one Fred who gives that extra degree to inspire an entire school, and we are privileged to honor those individuals."

Numerous conference activities are being planned around this award, including recognition of all nominees, a presentation by Fred Shea, Got Fred? activities, and an inspirational video featuring the award recipient.
