Scholarship Logistics: All applicants must be enrolled in a school
where the school or its principal is a member of KASSP. The state
will be divided into four divisions for the scholarships to be
awarded. Regions 1-4, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16 will choose winners from
each division. Each division winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Winners from each region who were not selected as state division
winners shall receive a $125 scholarship.
Timeline:
October 1: Scholarship applications shall be made available for
students each school year.
November 30: Deadline for accepting scholarship applications.
January KASSP Meeting: Prior to the January meeting, each regional
KASSP Board of Director will create a scholarship committee from
his/her region to select a regional winner. At the January board
of directors meeting, a scholarship committee shall be appointed
to determine the scholarship recipients from each of the four divisions.
Eligibility: All participants must aspire to be a teacher. This
is defined as a student who has full intention of entering a post
secondary education program in the field of education. He/she must
also have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Follow-up: Submit all applications to your regional board member
no later than the first Friday or first Monday in December (whichever
allows more turn-around time).
