Scholarship Logistics: All applicants must be enrolled in a school where the school or its principal is a member of KASSP. The state will be divided into four divisions for the scholarships to be awarded. Regions 1-4, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16 will choose winners from each division. Each division winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Winners from each region who were not selected as state division winners shall receive a $125 scholarship.

Timeline:

October 1: Scholarship applications shall be made available for students each school year.

November 30: Deadline for accepting scholarship applications.

January KASSP Meeting: Prior to the January meeting, each regional KASSP Board of Director will create a scholarship committee from his/her region to select a regional winner. At the January board of directors meeting, a scholarship committee shall be appointed to determine the scholarship recipients from each of the four divisions.

Eligibility: All participants must aspire to be a teacher. This is defined as a student who has full intention of entering a post secondary education program in the field of education. He/she must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Follow-up: Submit all applications to your regional board member no later than the first Friday or first Monday in December (whichever allows more turn-around time).
