Stephen Peters is a former teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and executive director of secondary education in Virginia and Maryland. He has more than 28 years of experience dealing with school districts that have gone from “good” to “great”. His revolutionary mentoring and self-empowering program, The Gentlemen’s Club, has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show as well as “America, America,” which broadcasts to two million viewers in Portugal and Brazil. In his book, Inspired to Learn: Why We Must Give Children Hope, Stephen not only outlines his vision for the children in our schools, he goes on to share how he and his staff turned their vision into operational strategies. His second book, Do You Know Enough About Me To Teach Me, is being used throughout the United States as an effective tool for reaching disadvantaged and at-risk youth. A charismatic and inspiring trainer/speaker, Peters is President/CEO of The Peters Group and partner with CASENEX, LLC, an online professional development company. He is also an education consultant with Visionary Leaders Institute and HOPE Foundation.
Dr. Peters will be presenting "Engaging Every Learner" on June 13, 2008, as a part of the 2008 Summer Leadership Retreat. According to Dr. Peters, "today's students are different than ever before, requiring educators to utilize a different approach to teaching them." Designed for both teachers and administrators, participants will learn his three-pronged steps to effective teaching and learning. Once implemented, classroom experiences will be greatly enhanced as students begin to take on a more active role as a results of "being captured and inspired."
