The Kentucky Directors of Pupil Personnel met on September 05, 2003 at the Embassy Suites in Lexington for its annual meeting with the entire membership in attendance. The meeting was held in conjunction with the organization's annual conference. Order of Business |

President Mike Ramsey called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Roger VonStrohe, chairperson of the Nominations Committee, explained that
previously elected officers generally move up and that only one office was
open for nominations. He reported that all current officers are willing to
serve another term and that two individuals have agreed to run for the
office of treasurer, the open office this year.
He presented the following slate of officers for 2003-04:
Tom Daugherty
President
Pashia Staton
President-Elect
Mike Casteel
Vice President
Rita Byrd
Secretary
Marsha Hurt
Candidate for Treasurer
Charles Stallard
Candidate for Treasurer President
Ramsey asked for nominations from the floor.
No response. Dave Feldmann made a motion to accept the slate of officers as presented. John Sloan seconded the motion. The motion passed. Ballots for the office of treasurer were collected. KEYNOTE ADDRESS: President Ramsey introduced the keynote speaker for the morning session, Gene Wilhoit, Commissioner of Education. Mr. Wilhoit addressed the state of education in Kentucky, the successes that have been achieved since the passage of KERA, the commitment to education, the difficulties that face school districts, and what districts can do to stay on course. COMMITTEE
REPORTS: Tom Daugherty
and Pashia Staton reported on their financial audit review.
They reported that the financial books were in good order and that
no problems were evident. Marsha Hurt made a motion to accept the report.
Jon Lawson seconded. The
motion passed. Mike Casteel
gave the treasurer’s report. He
indicated the balances did not reflect the conference revenues and
expenses. See attached
report. Patricia Billings
made a motion to accept the report. Sherrill
Smith seconded. The motion
passed. Roger
VonStrohe reported on results of the election for treasurer. He reported that the vote was close – 49 to 43.
Charles Stallard was elected treasurer. INSTALLATION
OF OFFICERS: Roger
VonStrohe conducted the installation of officers. Tom
Daugherty, the incoming president, talked briefly about his mission and
vision. He thanked President
Ramsey for his years of service, particularly his tenure as president. President
Ramsey gave concluding remarks. He
thanked Region 6 DPPs for their work on the conference. ADJOURNMENT:
